How to use an Apple TV as a digital photo frame and always-on display

Open the Inklyng app on your Apple TV, note the 6-digit code it shows, then add an Apple TV display in your Inklyng account and type the code. Pick your photos, weather and other screens and the TV shows them in turn.

What you need

  • An Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD connected to a TV
  • The Inklyng app on the Apple TV
  • A free Inklyng account

Steps

  1. Open the Inklyng app. Open the Inklyng app on your Apple TV. It shows a 6-digit code.
  2. Add the Apple TV in your account. On your phone or computer, log in, choose Add display, then Apple TV, and type the code.
  3. Add your photos. Open the Photos screen and add pictures. They are shown full screen in landscape, sharp on 4K sets.
  4. Add other screens. Add weather, the Earth, stocks, text or a message board to the playlist, and choose how long each stays.
  5. Leave it running. The TV rotates through your screens on its own. Change anything later from your phone.

Tips

  • The Apple TV is always landscape and always full screen, so photos are cropped for landscape.
  • Turn off the TV's sleep timer and screen saver if you want it on all day.
