How to turn a computer monitor into an always-on display
Plug an Amazon Fire TV Stick into the monitor's HDMI port, open the Silk browser, go to inklyng.app/go and type the code from your Inklyng account. A computer works too: open inklyng.app/screen and go full screen.
What you need
- A monitor with an HDMI port
- A Fire TV Stick, or any computer with a web browser
- A free Inklyng account
Steps
- Connect a device. Plug a Fire TV Stick into the monitor's HDMI port, or use a computer that is already connected to it.
- Open Inklyng. On a Fire TV Stick, open Silk and go to inklyng.app/go. On a computer, open inklyng.app/screen in the browser.
- Connect it to your account. Type the six-character code from the display's Settings tab in Inklyng. A code works once and expires after 5 minutes.
- Go full screen. On a computer press F11 (Control + Command + F on a Mac).
- Stop it sleeping. Turn the Fire TV Stick screensaver off, or set the computer and screen to never sleep while plugged in.
Tips
- Set the browser's start-up page to inklyng.app/screen so it comes back by itself after a restart.
